Beijing Wangjing SOHO - Illuminated Staircase Night View

Using a frame-within-a-frame composition, the photographer employs the indoor arched window as the foreground frame to highlight the central view of the Wangjing SOHO building. Shooting from a low angle at the window, the photographer enhances the building's vertical depth. The framing includes both the window structure and the full view of the building. A wide-angle lens is recommended to balance the foreground frame with the details of the night lights.

The photographer highlights the towering form of Wangjing SOHO. Utilizing a symmetrical composition, the curved buildings are evenly distributed on both sides, with the Jinhuilu Tower and white pillars in the center serving as a transition to enhance the balance of the image. The frame includes the cloud-filled sky above, the main cluster of buildings in the middle, and the residential buildings below, adding depth and layers to the scene. A telephoto lens is recommended to compress the space and emphasize the architectural details and overall silhouette.

Stand in front of the building and use a wide-angle lens to capture its streamlined appearance and entirety, or find the interplay of curves and light and shadow to take a photo with a strong modern feel. Use symmetrical composition to find lines and guide the viewer's gaze using the building’s lines, adding depth to the photo.

Additional tip: It’s highly recommended to take photos on a sunny day for the best results.

Wangjing SOHO - Main Buildings

The photographer uses a high-angle perspective and the rule of thirds composition to layer the sky, buildings, and city roads. The cluster of buildings is placed at the center of the frame, with the flow of traffic on the roads serving as leading lines. This showcases the integration of the city landmark (Wangjing SOHO) with the twilight skyline, highlighting the urban architectural landscape.

Long exposure techniques can be used to capture the light trails formed by the traffic. It is recommended to shoot during sunset, twilight, or at night.
