Walking Guide

Take the Subway Line 1 and get off at Tiananmen East Station. Exit from either Exit A or B, then walk to Tiananmen. After passing through security, enter Tiananmen and continue through Duanmen to reach the Meridian Gate (the entrance for visiting the Forbidden City). Upon entering the Meridian Gate, pass through Taihe Gate and follow the central axis of the Forbidden City to enter the inner court area. Keep heading north, passing through the Qianqing Palace, Jiaotai Hall, and Kunning Palace, and you will arrive at the Imperial Garden. Once inside the Imperial Garden, a particularly exquisite spot for elm plum blossoms is located near the Kunning Palace.
