Driving from Xining takes about 8 hours, passing through Qinghai Lake and Teqikai Salt Lake (suitable for the Qinghai-Gansu Grand Loop); a private car from Golmud city to the salt lake takes about 1.5 hours, and it's recommended to share a ride with 4 people (approximately 80-100 RMB per person); bus services are available from Golmud Railway Station with the Salt Lake special line (two daily departures at 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM).
